The following is our review, accompanying notes and dog friendliness rating for the Jeep Grand Cherokee 2005-2014:
Dog Friendly Features
The boot in this model of the Jeep Grand Cherokee is a great size and is suitable for two small to medium-sized dogs or one large or giant breed.
Jeeps have great air-conditioning so if you are travelling with your dog in the car on hot trips you can rest assured that you’ll be able to keep them cool. These Jeeps also have an option that allows you to open the tailgate window if you stop and you want to give your dog some fresh air.
Please be aware that the boot floor height on Jeeps is higher than normal vehicles. Therefore, if you feel you may struggle to get your pet in and out of the car safely or that the dog itself may struggle to get in and out of the car please ask us about dog ramps and tow bar steps.
These Jeeps have built in cargo tie down hoops which really make fixing a cage or harness in the boot area very easy.
There are lots of different options available for dog guards for these cars depending on your budget and the size of your pet. Ask us for details and recommendations.
Being a Jeep these vehicles are very hard wearing! The majority of boot floors on these cars are removable and can be washed as needed.
Not many people know this but one really great and very useful feature of Jeeps is the ease at which you can turn off the interior sensor for your car alarm. On your key, just press the lock button 4 times quickly, the Jeep will chirp and this lets you know the interior sensor has been disarmed. So, if you do have to pop to the shop and have to leave your pet in the car then you can do so knowing that they will not set off the alarm when you are queuing up to pay. However, please be aware we strongly advise not keeping your pets locked in hot cars!!!!
When it comes to dog friendliness, these cars are as good as it gets. They get 5 paws out of 5 on our dog friendliness scale. They’re Pawesome!!!!
