THINGS TO DO NOW THAT WE ARE APPROACHING SPRING

It’s the end of February and that must mean we are heading for Spring. Now, most drivers don’t give their car a good look over as the seasons change, but they should.

Here are some things to think about checking as we move from winter into spring:

  1. Check your tyres. Why? Well, your tyres will have taken a pounding over the winter with all of the rain, snow, ice and grit that has been on the roads, as well as the unseen potholes that always emerge over the winter months. So, check your tyres and if they are low on tread then have them replaced. However, if they look OK, do check the evenness of wear as potholes can throw out your alignment and cause uneven wear. If your tyre wear does looks a little uneven, have them checked out and re-aligned.
  2. Check your windscreen wipers. Like your tyres, your windscreen wipers have probably been working hard over the last few months so now would be a good time to look them over and replace them if needed.
  3. Check your brakes. We tend to use our brakes more over the dark winter months due to the low light, road and weather conditions. Therefore, now would be a good time to have your brakes checked too to make sure they are all in top working condition.
  4. Find and fix those scratches. Finally, over the winter months we can pick up small scratches on our cars that are caused by grit and salt kicked up from the road. So, if you do spot a few scratches then either touch them up yourself or have these seen to by a specialist. The sooner you do this, the better, since it will help keep your car looking newer for longer and stop rust developing.

I hope that you found these tips helpful.
