The finest British motoring marques were on display last Friday as a fleet of luxurious wedding cars chauffeured the Royal family, along with the Middleton's to the stunning Westminster Abbey before going on to witness the marriage of Prince William and Kate Middleton.
The Princess to be and her father arrived in style as they were driven to Westminster Abbey in a 1977 Rolls Royce Phantom which is part of the Queen's fleet. The Phantom was given to the Queen by the British Automotive Industry on her Silver jubilee which marked her 25th year on the throne.
If you remember, this was the same car that was targeted by protestors before Christmas after it was attacked in London when it was carrying Prince Charles and Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall when they travelled to the Royal Variety Performance.
The Queen, Prince Phillip, Prince William and Prince Harry arrived to Westminster Abbey in a pair of custom built Bentley's while Charles and Camilla arrived in a Rolls Royce Phantom IV, which happened to be the oldest car out of the wedding fleet, built in the 50's.
After the wedding reception that took place at Buckingham Palace, we saw Prince William and the new Princess Kate Middleton, drive to Clarence House. The prince was driving the 1969 Aston Martin DB6 Volante MKII sports car, a classic that was a gift from his farther, Prince Charles on his 21st birthday.
It is believe that the Aston was only one of 38 to be built.
McCarthy Cars showed their patriotism to the Royal Wedding by letting the Union Jack fly high above their showroom and decorating each car with balloons.
If your little Prince or Princess is getting married soon, it's reassuring to know that you don't need to be a Royal to drive a prestige car. In fact, the Mercedes R Class is the perfect car for driving the bride to that special place. Large enough to fit the wedding dress trail and lucky person to give her away.
