DOG-FRIENDLY CAR REVIEWS – HYUNDAI IX35 (2009-2015)

Ezgif.com Webp To JpgOverall paw score: 3.5 out of 5.

Boot area

The ix35’s minimum boot capacity of 591 litres is generous for a car of its class, making it especially ideal for small-to-medium-size dogs. It’s worth noting, however, that the angle of the tailgate does compromise boot space a little. The boot floor is quite elevated too, which might make it difficult for less mobile animals to access. That said, the floor is flush with the door.

Thanks to under-floor storage, it’s easy to keep various doggy accessories safely stored in one place. The vehicle comes with a removable carpet too, making it easy to clean

Ventilation

Quite a few ix35 models are fitted with privacy glass, which plays its part in keeping the rear section of the vehicle cool during warmer times of the year. It is possible to add this feature if the model you are considering doesn’t have it – please speak to a member of our team to learn more.

Securing your dog

This ix35 features four metal tie-down loops – ideal for keeping a dog cage safely in position. The vehicle can be fitted with one of a range of dog guards too, and for breeds of all sizes – please get in touch with us for advice and recommendations.

A scan of the car’s handbook and an online search hasn’t yielded any information as to whether the car’s internal alarm sensors can be deactivated. This does mean that the alarm could be set off by your pet if ever you need to leave him or her unattended for a minute or two.
