Dog-friendly car reviews – Jeep Grand Cherokee

Overall paw score: 5 out of 5.

Boot area

The Grand Cherokee’s 782-litre boot space is easily big enough to comfortably contain even the largest of hounds – or a pair of small-to-medium-size dogs.

Naturally, for a car of this size, the boot floor is higher than is typically found in the average vehicle, which means that some dogs may find access problematic. There are solutions, however – please get in touch with us for information about dog ramps and tow bar steps.

Each Jeep is built to last, and that includes fixtures contained within, and the boot flooring of most models is removable, making cleaning as easy as possible.

All Jeep variants are well-ventilated, ensuring that pets are kept cool during long journeys on warm days. In addition, this particular model has a tailgate window that can be opened.

Securing your dog

Thanks to built-in tie-down hoops, fixing a dog cage in position is easy to accomplish. Also, there are various types of dog guards available, to suit all kinds of budgets and animal sizes – please contact us for advice and our recommendations.

If you need to leave your dog unattended for a minute or two, simply press your car key fob’s lock button four times. The vehicle will then emit a chirruping sound, indicating that its interior sensors have been disabled. Now you can pop into a shop, safe in the knowledge that your favourite furry friend won’t set off the alarm.
