If you’re a dog owner, you’ll likely have found some excellent places to walk with your faithful four-legged friend in and around Croydon. At McCarthy Cars, our favourite place to visit is Coombe Wood and we’d definitely recommend it if you haven’t been already!
Consisting of 14 acres of land, Coombe Wood has been open to the public since 1948. The estate is replete with coniferous trees – and numerous ornamental gardens that feature a wide display of shrubs and plants. It is also the location of splendid Coombe Wood House.
Whenever you require some refreshment, Coach House Café, located within the environs of the estate, is a good place to enjoy breakfast or lunch. This family-run bistro’s delightful courtyard garden is the perfect place to relax, with your dog on a leash, as you sip on a cup of tea and snack on a scone.
Coombe Wood is easily accessible by car, bus and even tram (there are stops at Coombe Lane and Lloyd Park). If you’re feeling particularly energetic, you could begin The Vanguard Way, which starts at East Croydon Railway Station and takes in Coombe Wood. For the record, this 66-mile-long walk culminates at Newhaven Harbour in East Sussex – not that we’re suggesting you complete the whole course!
However you choose to get to Coombe Wood, we’re sure that family members and human and canine friends alike will thoroughly enjoy the experience.
