The following is our review, accompanying notes and dog friendliness rating for the Mercedes-Benz B-Class 2005-2011:
Dog Friendly Features
The Mercedes- Benz B-Class is a great looking car and offers a good sized boot space that would be ideal for a medium sized dog.
One of it’s best features and one that sets it apart from other cars in it’s class is that it is approx. 6 inches lower than comparable models and 4x4s making entry and exit to the boot area much easier for your dog.
However, one thing that you will need to consider is that the tailgate of the car is raked in design which compromises the boot space a little.
To make sure that you keep the rear of the car cool on hot days, speak to our team about adding privacy glass around the rear of the car. This will go a long way to keeping the boot area of the car cool on hot and sunny days.
Given that the boot is lower to the floor than other comparable models, this makes this car ideal for everyday use. It’s worth noting, however, that the Mercedes B-Class has a slightly dropped floor which could make access an issue for some less mobile dogs. But, it also has a scratch resistant step at the rear of the boot which helps prevent any damage to the rear bumper area when your dog is getting in and out of the car.
The size of the boot space on the Mercedes-Benz B-Class means that it is ideal for use with a dog cage and the boot area also comes equipped with two sturdy metal tie downs so that dog cages can be secured safely in place.
There are lots of different options available for dog guards for these cars depending on your budget and the size of your pet. Ask us for details and recommendations.
The boot is carpeted but the floor is removable making it easy to clean. The boot also has under floor storage making it easy to store poop bags, leads and toys etc.
