DOG-FRIENDLY CAR REVIEWS – MERCEDES-BENZ B-CLASS (2005-2011)
Overall paw score: 4 out of 5.
The Mercedes-Benz B-Class’ 488-litre boot (1,545 litres with rear seats folded) is perfect for accommodating a medium-size hound.
The vehicle comes with many great features, one of which is its low load sill. This not only makes placement and retrieval of bulky items as simple as possible, it allows easy access for virtually any kind of dog. Under-floor stowage is included too – ideal for keeping various doggy accessories together.
If your pet isn’t too mobile, it’s worth noting that there is a slight drop to the boot floor. Also, the angle of the tailgate window does encroach upon boot space to some extent.
A special tailgate step is included, which prevents canine claws from scratching the rear bumper, while a removable carpeted boot floor makes cleaning as easy as possible.
Ventilation and cooling
The B-Class can be fitted with privacy glass, which helps keep the internal temperature of the car low during hot days. Please speak to a member of our team if this is something that you’d be interested in having installed.
Securing your dog
The vehicle is big enough to contain a dog cage, and two sturdy metal tie-down loops are provided to keep it in position.
Dog guards of all kinds, to suit breeds of different sizes, are available for cars such as the B-Class – please don’t hesitate to contact us if you would like some recommendations.
If you need to leave your dog unattended for a brief time, the car’s interior sensors can be disabled via controls on the dashboard. This will ensure that your pet doesn’t set off the alarm during your absence.
