DOG-FRIENDLY CAR REVIEWS – TOYOTA RAV4
Overall paw score: 4.5 out of 5.
Boot area
The Toyota RAV4’s minimum-capacity 547-litre boot means that safely accommodating even the largest of dogs is possible. Moreover, the vehicle’s side-opening rear door means that accessing the vehicle from the pavement (when parked on the nearside) is as simple as possible. Access is further enhanced by the vehicle’s low load lip and flat floor, ensuring that most dogs can easily get in and out. The boot also features under-floor storage, which is ideal for keeping leashes, toys and doggy waste bags together. Last but not least, a removable, carpeted boot floor makes cleaning a simple process.
Keeping your dog cool
Some RAV4 models are fitted with rear privacy glass, which helps to keep that part of the vehicle cooler on hot days. If the variant you are considering doesn’t have this feature, please contact a member of our team to find out how it can be installed.
Securing your dog
Do you want to fit a dog cage in the boot? If so, the presence of six tie-down loops will prove very helpful in this regard. How about a dog guard? These come in a variety of options to suit various budgets and pet sizes – please get in touch with us for details, and to hear our recommendations.
If ever you need to leave your dog unattended for the briefest of moments, to pick something up from a shop, for example, the car’s internal sensors can be disabled. This can be actioned via the RAV4’s dashboard, ensuring that your faithful furry friend doesn’t inadvertently activate the alarm during your short absence.
